Taster Sessions

The taster sessions are 2 hours, however they can be delivered over a longer time period should an organisation require a more in depth programme they can be mixed for both staff and managers.

Tackling Stress At Work

Aims:  The aim of this course is to ensure managers and leaders are able to understand and deal with situations in the workplace arising from stress in line with the Health & Safety Management Standards.

Workshop objectives:  by the end of the programme participants will be able to:

  • Define “stress” and differentiate between pressure and stress.
  • State the short and long term effects of stress on an individual and the organisation
  • Identify the early warning signs of stress to enable a proactive approach therefore creating an environment where prevention of stress is the keyword.
  • Carry out informal meetings designed to support the risk assessment process.
  • Devise strategies for dealing with stress in line with their legal duties and responsibilities as laid out in the HSE standards on work-related stress.

Maximising Performance At Work

Aim: A workshop providing managers with the techniques and skills to maximise performance and manage poor performance

Workshop Objectives: by the end of this session managers will be able to:

  • Describe  the 4 key stages of Performance Management
  • Differentiate between the stages and take appropriate action at each stage
  • Use different communication traits and select the most appropriate method to communicated these messages

Equipping Managers With Coaching Skills

Aim: The aim of this course is to develop great, workable and repeatable interactive skills.

Workshop Objective:  by the end of the session participants will be able to:

  • Identify their communication style
  • Understand the principles of listening
  • Understand generalisations, deletions and distortions
  • Apply these principles to interactive discussions
  • Improve their questioning skills
  • Develop better rapport
  • Set appropriate goals

Dealing With Bullying And Harassment In The Work Place

Aim: This workshop provides a basis for participants to be able to respect and encourage a climate of dignity at work through understanding and promoting effective working relationships. In line with the organisation’s relevant policies.

Workshop Objectives: by the end of the session, delegates will have identified:

  • Key characteristics of unacceptable behaviour, and why it can occur in the workplace.
  • The characteristics of an effective working relationship, and the part this plays in developing and preserving dignity at work.
  • Appropriate interpersonal approaches that can be taken in the event of either receiving or witnessing unacceptable behaviour.
  • Formal action that can be taken in the event of either receiving or witnessing unacceptable behaviour.

Aim: This workshop enables staff to respond positively to the pressures and demands of modern working life and to help them identify opportunities to thrive.

  • Build important relationships

Developing Wellbeing And Performance At Work

Aim: A workshop providing individuals with the techniques and skills to combat the impact of stress at work.

Workshop Objectives: by the end of this session staff will be able to:

  • Have an awareness of the difference between pressure and stress
  • Understanding the causes of stress and how stress affects performance
  • Recognise the early signs and symptoms of stress in themselves, enabling them to gain skills to build resilience against these symptoms
  • Use practical techniques to help with preventing and managing stress, including ways to avoid stress, the importance of thinking and focusing positively, enabling the individuals to improve wellbeing and performance at work.

Dealing With Difficult People

Aim: This workshop develops skills for managing and dealing with difficult people it will increase your skill and knowledge in managing positive and negative behaviour and ultimately increase your effectiveness in handling those difficult and challenging situations.

  • Consider the cause of difficult behaviour and why people become difficult
  • Recognise different behaviour types and how to deal with them
  • Consider the effects to deal with difficult or angry people
  • Adopted Practiced approaches to deal with difficult behaviour

Aim: A workshop that gives you proven techniques to effectively protect and manage your time.

Workshop Objectives: by the end of this session staff will be able to:

  • Regard time as a resource managed
  • Identify and focus on your objectives and key responsibilities
  • Establish and over come the causes of poor time management
  • Identify and deal with time stealers
  • Priorities your tasks and the unexpected

Change Management

Aim: A workshop suitable for anyone facing change in the workplace, whether the change has been thrust upon you or managing other people.

Workshop Objectives: by the end of this session staff will be able to:

  • Understanding of the impact of change
  • Prepare for impending changes
  • Help manage others through changes in your workplace
  • Getting buy-in and deal with resistance
  • Becoming an agent for change
  • Building and maintaining good working relationships
  • Get more creative with solutions
  • Gain increased confidence and motivation

Assertive Management

Aim: To understand assertiveness and the benefits of effective assertive behaviour.

Workshop Objective: by the end of the session participants will be able to:

  • Analyse how assertive you are
  • Understand the consequences of not being assertive
  • Make changes to become more assertive
  • Discuss the techniques of assertiveness in more detail
  • Have the opportunity to practice these in small safe groups
